He is passionate about fostering sources of value and mitigating uncertainty. Trained as a Mechanical Engineer at California Polytechnic State University, he has 30 years as a proven senior executive. He is accomplished at leading manufacturing operations and propelling strategic operations, as well as driving sales and marketing. His innovative nature has been demonstrated leading an enterprise of nine facilities with more 600 employees to great success. He has grown a startup into a national franchise of 26 locations doing $128MM, and then rolling up to a public firm.
Melvyn Harris, M.D.
Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Mel Harris is on faculty in the Division of Emergency Medicine, Loma Linda University Medical Center, Loma Linda, CA. Dr. Harris was formally the Chief of Emergency Medicine for the 2D Medical Brigade, U.S. Army Reserve, Medical Corps, San Pablo, CA. COL Harris has served his country in the war zones of Kosovo, Iraq and most recently Afghanistan in 2012. Dr. Harris is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Ignacio Cespedes, M.B.A., Ph.D.
Chief Operations Officer
Dr. Céspedes is a proven, hands-on manager with 22 years of medical device and vein finder experience. Able to merge clinical, technical and business issues for commercialization, he has managed up-stream marketing, sales, business development, technology development and R&D. He serves on the faculty at the University of Phoenix and is the Principal of BrightStart Healthcare. Prior to his work at Evena, Dr. Céspedes was the Vice President of Marketing and Sales at CoolTouch, the Vice President of Business Development at JOMED, and the Vice President of Product Management at EndoSonics. Dr. Céspedes holds a B.S. degree in Electronic Engineering, an M.B.A. in Finance, and a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering. He has 10 patents to his name.
Chief Financial Officer
With 24 years of P&L responsibility at public and private firms, Mr. Gruebele specializes in debt and equity finance and investment as well as Angel financing. He has guided successful startups and recoveries of financially troubled business units and entrepreneurial companies. Mr. Gruebele trained as an engineer at University of California Davis. His varied background includes experience in high technology, manufacturing, software and professional services. Prior to his work at Evena Medical, Mr. Gruebele served as a Fellow at the Center for Entrepreneurial Development at Carnegie Mellon University, the CEO and Portfolio Manager for Second Angel Fund, the CFO at Small Business Capital, and in senior executive positions at various enterprise software and data-storage technology companies.
Executive Vice President of Sales
David Yeh has more than 30 years of performance-based sales, marketing and senior leadership experience in medical devices and capital equipment. After graduating from UCLA, Mr. Yeh received formal sales training at Xerox. He has worked for large medical corporations such as GE Healthcare as well as having launched several start-ups, and has extensive expertise in creating innovative and strategic initiatives to drive sales, brand and market penetration. Mr. Yeh has created multiple sales channels and developed market-focused teams, building key relationships and customers, and successfully delivering results. Mr. Yeh has launched new and disruptive technology such as laser-vision correction as well as bringing new life to established devices in diagnostic imaging and monitoring.
Darilyn Cole, R.N., CRNI, VA-BC
V.P. Clinical Operations
Ms. Cole is a thought leader and expert in vascular access with nearly 30 years’ experience in the field. She is board certified in Vascular Access as well as Infusion. Her commitment to quality, best practice, and bringing in new technologies has helped make her vascular access team one of the best in the Sacramento area. She is a founding board member of the Northern California Vascular Access Network and currently serves as President. Her involvement has been instrumental in making NORVAN one of the most active and successful networks of the Association for Vascular Access, AVA. She is a past President of the Northern California Infusion Nurse Society.
Accomplished and motivated Regulatory Affairs executive with experience as a strategic member of corporate leadership teams. Proven track record developing global regulatory strategies consistent with company goals and directing company resources through successful regulatory approvals. Results-oriented leader of quality, clinical and regulatory departments. Kim received her B.S. in Computer Technology and M.B.A. in General Management from Indiana University. Kim’s specialties include: regulatory strategic designs; due diligence audits, internal/external quality audits, BIMO audits; clinical research design, implementation and completion; 510(k) submissions; IDE submissions; PMA submissions; PMA supplement submissions; design dossier and technical file submissions; annual reports; risk management systems; design and implement quality system; clinical development; orthopedic, cardiovascular, peripheral vascular, and aesthetic industry experience; and clinical data system management.
