Is It Safe to Take Garcinia Cambogia and Green Coffee Bean Extract Together?
Garcinia Cambogia and Green Coffee Bean Extract are both popular natural weight loss supplements that have gained quite a following over the years. Heralded as effective and convenient, they are believed to assist in your quest to shed the pounds.
Garcinia Cambogia contains high levels of Hydroxycitric Acid (HCA), which is known for preventing fat absorption.
Green Coffee Beans are tiny seeds from a fruit called Coffee Cherries. The beans contain Chlorogenic Acid, a powerful antioxidant, linked to lessening absorption of carbs and increasing weight loss. Chlorogenic Acid is also believed to purify the liver.
So, we have two powerful supplements that seem to be able to offer assistance in the battle against the bulge.

Garcinia Cambogia and Green Coffee Bean Reviews
These powerhouse supplements are heralded for doing good things individually, let’s explore their impact via studies carried out:
Garcinia Cambogia
A study in 2002, carried out by the Central Research Laboratory FANCL Corporation in Japan, explored the impact of HCA (found in Garcinia Cambogia supplements), on visceral fat accumulation. The study was carried out over 12 weeks and involved a group of volunteers that were split into two groups, with one group receiving a placebo and the others provided with Garcinia Cambogia supplement (containing 100mg of HCA). The study concluded that at the group taking the supplement experienced a 10 to 15% decrease in visceral fat accumulation and total body fat, and researchers determined that Garcinia Cambogia did reduce the build-up of fat in the abdominal area.
Green Coffee Beans
A 2007 study by The ETC Research Development Team in Norway set out to explore the effect of chlorogenic acid enriched coffee on glucose absorption. There were two parts to the study, firstly twelve volunteers were provided with varying brands of coffee enhanced with chlorogenic acid, weight loss was carefully monitored. The second part involved twelve overweight volunteers being provided with a placebo. Each part of the study was conducted over twelve weeks and the results indicated that the group taking the coffee beans experienced a 5.7 Kg weight loss on average, whilst the placebo group experienced an average 1.7 Kg weight loss. The study concluded that chlorogenic acid helps to decrease glucose levels and supports weight loss.
Garcinia Cambogia and Green Coffee Bean Results
Each of the two supplements has something to offer and works in its way to aid weight loss. You could choose to take one over the other, but there is little to suggest that one is better than the other, or that is riskier in terms of side-effects. Sometimes it’s down to what suits you best.
Taking both won’t mean double the results! Don’t expect to lose 4 pounds a week instead of 2 and always remember that supplements aren’t stand alone products (they work best in cahoots with a balanced diet and exercise). That said if you want to give yourself a helping hand, taking both supplements can give you a welcome boost.
How Much Should You Take?
Taking the supplements together will help you to obtain the benefits. But to get the maximum impact, you need to make sure you are taking an effective dose of both. Check carefully as many supplements advertise they include both Green Coffee Bean and Garcinia Cambogia, but incorrect dosage will render the product ineffective.
There are some “all-in-one” products on the market, or you can take the supplements together individually, the best time to take them is around thirty minutes prior to eating.
Green Coffee Bean Dosage
You need to check out the dosage instructions on the supplement you take (as dosage is generally based on the content of chlorogenic acid). As a general guide you should take:
- 1,200-3,000mg per day if the supplement contains 10% chlorogenic acid.
- 600-1,500mg per day if the supplement contains 20% chlorogenic acid.
- 240-600mg per day if the supplement contains 50% chlorogenic acid.
Garcinia Cambogia dosage
The same applies to Garcinia Cambogia in terms of checking out dosage instructions on the brand you choose. The level of Hydroxycitric Acid can impact on the dosage required. The usual dosage advice suggests around 1500 mg would be appropriate and most tablets contain 500 mg (so three a day would be a good starting point).
What’s the Verdict?
Two well-known supplements – on one side we have Garcinia Cambogia.
The supplement has been on the market for many years and its main ingredient, HCA can help to boost your metabolism, make you feel better (sleep well, improve mood), and suppress those hunger pangs.
On the other side, we have Green Bean Coffee Extract with the active ingredient of Chlorogenic Acid, which is known to stabilize blood sugars, reduce damage to healthy cells, and slow down the absorption of fat.
Both seem to offer plenty in terms of boosting your health and well-being, and there’s little to suggest they pose any risk of side-effects (although all medication does come with a warning that it could disagree with you)! You should seek medical advice before embarking on a course of any supplement and its essential to check dosage information that comes with a product.
Taking both together can support your weight-loss efforts but don’t lose sight of the bigger picture, to change your body shape takes time and effort, and a shift in your mindset.
Popping supplements won’t eliminate your problems, but they can enhance your progress. A proper diet, lots of exercise and the use of two excellent supplements such as Green Bean Coffee Extract and Garcinia Cambogia will set you on your way to a healthy and leaner you. Bring on that beach body!
