It’s safe to say testosterone supplements have become a more and more common product for men all over the world.

Nugenix vs Nugenix Total T (The Quick Version)
Nugenix Free Testosterone has an extremely basic formula that is, frankly, outdated.
Specifically, I want to see ingredients such as D-aspartic Acid, Vitamin D, and Magnesium which are scientifically proven to boost testosterone production. Nugenix FT has none of these. So I am super skeptical about how effective it really is.
Nugenix Total T is basically the same formula as Nugenix Free Testosterone with ElevATP, and Testofen added in. The problem is that these a proprietary formulas with no transparency about what they actually include. In my view, this could be dangerous.
For many people, this is not a big deal, and certainly, both of these products are sold in large quantities. However, personally, I would prefer to play it safe and buy a product that fully discloses its ingredients, and that I know is both effective and safe.
Nugenix offers testosterone boosters produced with natural ingredients. Explore Nugenix's customer reviews and products on Amazon.
If you insist on using a Nugenix product. Here are some of the use cases where you would want to pick one over the other:
- Use Nugenix Free Testosterone if you want to just feel better and have a bit more energy in your day. Although I doubt it will do much for you (Sorry, I just really feel strongly against this formula).
- Use Nugenix Total T for a much stronger energy boost if your goal is to get in shape. Honestly, though, be wary of the lack of transparency of these two active ingredients. Take at your own risk (Don’t say I didn’t warn you).
In my humble opinion, if you are over 50, you should buy Prime Male for much better and proven results. If you are under 50, buy TestoPrime (this is the one I use).
Nugenix Free Testosterone
Overview
Nugenix Free Testosterone is a testosterone-boosting product designed to help grow lean muscle in combination with a good training regime.
Nugenix Free Testosterone is a testosterone product that is – frankly – outdated. In modern testosterone products, you’d expect to see ingredients like D-aspartic Acid, Vitamin D, and Magnesium.
These ingredients are scientifically proven to boost your testosterone production, but Nugenix FT has none of these. As such, I’m quite skeptical about how effective it could really be.
Ingredients
Vitamin B6
Studies have found that when we are deficient in vitamin B6, it can reduce the rate of testosterone production and increase the rate of the hormone’s metabolic clearance. This then leads to an overall decreased level of testosterone in the body.
Therefore, by increasing your intake of vitamin B6 through this supplement, you will prevent this decline in the hormone from occurring.
Vitamin B12
Vitamin B12 deficiencies have also been linked to reduced levels of testosterone.
Showing the relationship that this vitamin has with testosterone, one study found that 76% of participants who suffered from Chronic Testicular Pain also had a deficiency in vitamin B12 and testosterone.
65% of those who opted for vitamin B12 and testosterone repletion reported experiencing significant improvement of symptoms, with 16% reporting some improvement and only 19% reporting no improvement.
This vitamin has also been found to be great for boosting energy levels.

Zinc
Zinc deficiency has been linked to people having low levels of testosterone, and studies have shown that daily zinc supplementation can be good for people who have low testosterone levels and help to treat infertility.
L-Citrulline Malate
L-Citrulline Malate has been shown to help increase strength and endurance, improving your ability to lift weights and aiding in the growth and development of muscles.
Fenugreek Extract
Fenugreek is an herb that has been found by studies to enhance levels of testosterone and boost male’s sexual function. It has also been shown to improve strength.
Safety and Potential Side Effects
One of the main side effects of Nugenix Free Testosterone is that it can interact with other medications and cause allergic reactions.
Therefore, it’s important to check with your doctor before trying it! There have also been reported common side effects such as upset stomach, sleeping issues, and heart palpitations.
Another safety concern related to Nugenix Free Testosterone is the fact that it is not FDA-approved.
However, the brand states that the product is manufactured according to FDA guidelines with natural ingredients that are pure and potent.

This user, a 51-year-old, has had some success with Nugenix Free Testosterone – albeit on a fairly long timescale. They did criticize the price of each bottle in their Amazon review here.
- Too expensive. The dosage is 3 pills, so this bottle is only for 30 days. I am in my third month taking this supplement and I have not noticed any difference in my energy levels or anything else.
The above user noted in their Amazon review the price of Nugenix Free Testosterone. On top of that, they didn’t see the results they expected. One reviewer also mentioned that their sweat began to smell like maple syrup and urine, and the taste of the tablets was unbearable.

Nugenix Total T
Overview
Nugenix Total T is in essence the same formula as Nugenix Free Testosterone but with ElevATP and Testofen added in.
These formulas are intended to help men over 40 fight bodily aging and increase lean muscle.
Ingredients
Nugenix Total T contains many of the same ingredients as Nugenix Free Testosterone, such as vitamins B6 and B12, zinc, L-Citrulline Malate, and fenugreek extract. However, there are a few extra ingredients that it contains.
ElevATP Blend
ElevATP Blend contains a mixture of ancient peat extract and apple fruit extract.
This ingredient supports the function of testosterone due to its ability to stimulate the production of ATP.
Increasing levels of ATP will give you a huge boost in energy, which can be helpful in day-to-day life, in the gym, or even in the bedroom.
There are scientific studies that support this, showing the ingredients’ ability to enhance performance in resistance training.
Eurycoma longifolia Extract
Eurycoma longifolia extract, also known as Long Jack, has been used as a herbal remedy for centuries.
It has been thought to help boost libido, treat male infertility, and treat erectile dysfunction due to its ability to increase testosterone levels.
In one study, 90% of participants who took 200mg of Long Jack supplements daily experienced increased levels of the male sex hormone.
Animal and human studies have also shown that the herb can trigger sexual arousal in men.
Boron
Boron is an element that has been believed to help increase the production of testosterone, and links have been found to its ability to treat erectile dysfunction.
One review found that boron can increase testosterone levels by up to 25% and allows free testosterone to attach to proteins in your blood, which has been found to bring some great benefits to you as you age.
Another study found that, after taking 10mg of boron daily for a week, free testosterone levels in the 8 male participants significantly increased.
Safety and Potential Side Effects
The problem with these proprietary formulas is that they don’t come with much transparency about what they actually include.
In my view, this could be dangerous because they pose a risk of harmful side effects or the potential to mix poorly with other medications.
Personally, I would prefer to play it safe and buy a product that fully discloses its ingredients and that I know is both effective and safe.
What Users Are Saying
Nugenix Total T has a slightly higher rate of positive reviews on Amazon than Nugenix Free Testosterone, with 59% five-star reviews:
- “What truly sets King Maker apart is its meticulous attention to detail. The manufacturers have left no stone unturned in formulating a supplement that delivers extraordinary results. From the premium-grade ingredients to the cutting-edge extraction methods, King Maker embodies excellence in every aspect.”
This particularly positive user saw impressive results from the proprietary formula of Nugenix Total T, ranking it five stars in their Amazon review.
- “I don’t know how to rate this because all I can say is this product did not work for me. I took it for 2 weeks with no effects, then I looked up other reviews that said this product can take up to 30 days to work. So I took it for 38 days. No muscle gain, no strength gain, and no energy increase. I have since switched back to another brand that has been shown to work for me. As I said it is not that this product doesn’t work, it just didn’t work for me.”
Showing that not all products work for all people, this reviewer highlights that Nugenix Total T was not effective for them, even though they had seen good results for others.
